NSSpain 2026 - Wines, Prompts, and the New Reality of iOS Development

Another year, another trip to Logroño: 6 of us from Inqbarna's iOS team packed our bags for NSSpain XIV (#NSSpain2026), held September 16-18 at the Riojaforum. True to this year's own tagline - "The Future of Apple Development. In the Heart of Wine Country." - we came back with a bit of both: great talks and great wine, in equal measure.

As always, the real highlight was the people. NSSpain has a way of putting an entire room of iOS developers in the same hallway between talks, and some of our best conversations this year happened over a glass of Rioja rather than in a session room. We even ran into old colleagues we hadn't seen in years - catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, and realizing just how small (and welcoming) this community still is after all these editions.

The talks themselves gave us plenty to think about on the flight home. But if there was one topic that came up again and again - on stage and off - it's how different "a day of coding" looks now compared to even a year ago:

  • Most of the code isn't typed by us anymore. Agents now write a large share of what used to be our own keystrokes - our job has shifted from writing every line to reviewing, steering, and deciding what's worth shipping.
  • A lot more code is reaching our CI/CD pipelines, faster. That shift means pipelines see far more changes than before, which puts real pressure on how fast and how reliably they can validate everything moving through them.
  • App quality is actually going up, not down. With AI-assisted test coverage and review acting as a second pair of eyes on everything that gets generated, we're shipping with more confidence, not less - a conversation we didn't expect to be having quite this openly just a couple of editions ago.

We're coming back with new ideas, a few new tools to try, and - as always - the satisfaction of being part of a community that keeps getting better at talking honestly about where this industry is actually heading.

Thanks to the NSSpain organization and to everyone we shared a table (and a glass) with this year. See you at the next one! 🍷📱🤖
